Lumini MCP Server

Connect your AI assistant to Lumini — AI-powered New Zealand government intelligence. Search legislation, track bills, monitor consultations, and get insights about parliamentary activity, all scoped to your organisation.

A remote Model Context Protocol server, usable from Claude, ChatGPT, and any other MCP client. Learn more about Lumini at lumini.nz.

Connect

Add Lumini as a remote MCP connector using this URL:

https://mcp.getlumini.co/mcp

Authentication uses OAuth 2.0 — you'll sign in with your Lumini account and approve access. The connector is read-only: it never modifies your data, and only ever returns information from organisations you belong to.

Choose your client for step-by-step instructions:

Connect with Claude

In the Claude apps, go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste the URL above. You'll be prompted to sign in with your Lumini account and approve access.

In Claude Code, add it from the command line:

claude mcp add --transport http lumini https://mcp.getlumini.co/mcp
Connect with ChatGPT (OpenAI)

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Connectors (enable Developer mode under Advanced if you don't see the option), then create / add a connector, choose the MCP server option, and paste the URL below.

https://mcp.getlumini.co/mcp

ChatGPT registers itself automatically (dynamic client registration), then walks you through the Lumini OAuth sign-in and consent. Once connected, enable Lumini in a chat to use its tools.

Tools

Seven read-only tools, each scoped to your organisation automatically:

get_my_context read-only

My account & organisation

Returns the signed-in user (name, email), their access tier, and their organisation (name, sector, summary, website) so the assistant can ground who it is helping.

search_documents read-only

Search documents

Semantic vector search across the Lumini document corpus (Hansard, legislation text, policy, consultations), scoped to the user’s organisation. Returns the most relevant passages with similarity scores.

get_usage_stats read-only

Usage statistics

Organisation usage analytics for a 7/30/90-day period — chat and query counts, active users, documents ingested, alert-subscription breakdown, reports generated, and bills tracked.

get_legislation_summary read-only

Legislation summary

Bills by stage, recent parliamentary activity, and upcoming submission deadlines, layered with the organisation’s tracking status and bill enrichment.

get_consultation_deadlines read-only

Consultation deadlines

Upcoming government consultation closing dates, sorted by deadline — for submission planning.

get_weekly_top_10 read-only

Weekly top 10

A personalised bundle of the week’s most relevant items — new documents, active bills, and open consultations — ranked against the organisation’s interests.

get_minister_report read-only

Minister report

Source material to profile an MP or minister — sponsored bills, Hansard mentions, and relevant document excerpts — for the model to synthesise their positions.

Prompts

Prebuilt multi-step workflows available from your client's prompt picker:

Resources

Read-only lumini:// data resources (organisations, documents, chat sessions, alert subscriptions, legislation, consultations, and tracked bills) are exposed for grounding context. All are RLS-scoped to your organisation.

Data & privacy

The connector reads only your organisation's data via row-level security, plus publicly available New Zealand government information. It does not collect your conversations, chat history, or files from the AI assistant you connect from. Document search sends your query text to OpenAI to generate an embedding. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for full details on data collection, use, storage, third-party sharing, retention, and acceptable use.
